Washington: Just hours after the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, America’s newly elected President Donald Trump created a stir in the whole world by giving a statement. Trump on Monday once again reiterated his offer to make Canada the 51st state of America after Trudeau’s resignation. Trudeau, 53, announced his resignation from his post on Monday. He had to take this step because his ruling Liberal Party had started putting pressure on him amid his increasing unpopularity.

Said this after meeting Trudeau

Let us tell you that general elections are to be held in Canada this year. Trudeau said that until the party chooses a new leader, he will remain as prime minister. Earlier, during his tenure as the US President from 2017 to 2021, relations between 78-year-old Trump and Trudeau were never normal. Trump has been talking about making Canada the 51st state of America ever since he met Trudeau at his residence Mar-a-Lago after his election victory on November 5 last year. Since then he has mentioned it several times in his social media posts which shows that he wants to do this as soon as possible.

‘Trudeau knew, that’s why he resigned’

Trump said on Truth Social, ‘Many people in Canada would love to become the 51st state. The US will no longer be able to afford the massive trade deficits and subsidies that Canada so desperately needs. Justin Trudeau knew this, so he resigned. If Canada joins the United States, there will be no tariffs, taxes will be greatly reduced, and they will be completely safe from the danger of Russian and Chinese ships constantly besieging them. If we get together what a great country this will be!!!’

Trump has threatened Canada

Talking about Canada, there has been no significant reaction from its side to Trump’s offer. Trump has threatened to impose a 25 percent tariff on Canadian imports if Canada fails to stem the flow of illegal drugs and illegal immigrants across its southern border with the United States. In some posts, Trump also made fun of Trudeau and called him ‘Governor of the Great State of Canada’.
