US President Donald Trump
Washington: Tension continues between China and Taiwan. After Donald Trump became the US President, there was a question in the minds of the people that now the relationship between the two countries will turn. But, now President Trump has made his stand clear about this. The US President during his first cabinet meeting refused to say, will his administration take any steps to prevent China from forcefully occupying Taiwan.
Trump said what?
According to the CNN report, Trump told reporters during his first cabinet meeting, “I never comment on it, I don’t comment on anything, because I never want to keep myself in that position.” According to CNN, Trump said, “We are going to have good relations with China, but they will not be able to take advantage of us.”
America gave signs
According to CNN, Trump’s comment has come when the US recently took a big step about Taiwan. The US State Department had removed a line from its website earlier this month stating that the US does not support Taiwan’s freedom. The attitude indicates that the US’s stance has changed and it recognizes the Chinese policy known as One China Policy. It also accepts the situation of Beijing that Taiwan is part of China. However, the US has never accepted the claim of the Chinese Communist Party of sovereignty on the island.
China accused America
On February 12, the Chinese military accused the US of Taiwan Strait behaving at risk in the Strait, when two American naval ships crossed the international waterway. “American action sends wrong signs and increases security risk,” the Eastern Theater Command of PLA said in a statement on Wednesday.
