The Supreme Court held an online hearing on the case of the ban on X in Brazil. During this time, the bench that voted on the decision included five out of the 11 judges of the full bench. Judge de Moraes was also included in these. In fact, businessman Elon Musk and his supporters were presenting Judge Alexander de Moraes as a person who is intent on censoring political speech in Brazil.
Why is there a ban?
Judge Moraes last Friday ordered X to be blocked in Brazil for refusing to name a local legal representative. According to the information, X will now remain banned until it complies with court orders and pays the outstanding fine. The amount of outstanding fine is more than 3 million US dollars.
