Beijing: Tibet’s Xichang province has again been shaken by another earthquake. This shock was felt today on Wednesday at around 7 am. However, this time no damage has been reported. It is being told that this earthquake occurred in Xijang province. At least 150 earthquakes have been felt in Tibet in the last 15 hours. People are in panic due to this. At least 128 people have died so far in the earthquake that occurred on Tuesday. While a large number of people are injured.
The intensity of the earthquake that occurred in Tibet on Wednesday was estimated at about 4 on the Richter scale. Its center was at a depth of about 10 kilometers underground. This earthquake shock was felt in Tibet as well as Nepal. Its intensity has been estimated at around 4.2.
Rescue still going on after Tuesday’s earthquake
Rescue operation is still going on after the earthquake that occurred in Tibet on Tuesday. The earthquake struck Dingri County in Xigaze, China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday (Beijing time), according to the regional disaster relief headquarters. Its center was in the town of Sogo, Dingri County, Shigaze city. Shigaje is located 90 km north-east of Lobutse in the Khumbu Himalayan range in north-eastern Nepal, and is Tibet’s last border town, not far from the Nepal-Tibet-India tri-junction. This area meets Sikkim. Shigaje is also known as Shigaste which is close to the Indian border. Shigasate is considered one of the most sacred cities in Tibet. It is the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, a prominent figure in Tibetan Buddhism.

In Tibet, the Panchen Lama is the second most revered spiritual leader after the Dalai Lama. CENC said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. The earthquake was also felt in Nepal where buildings were damaged. However, there was no loss of life there. Earthquake tremors were felt at many places in Bihar too, but there was no loss of life or property. Footage broadcast on state Chinese television showed people, including children, being pulled out of the debris and carried on stretchers to medical camps. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Tsogo town of Dingri County, where about 6,900 people live within a radius of 20 kilometers.
There are 27 villages in this area. Dingri County is located on the northern slopes of the Himalayas in southern Tibet. It is the northern base camp of Mount Everest, called Mount Qomolangma in Tibet, the highest peak in the world. At a press conference after the earthquake, officials said that more than 3,400 rescue workers and 340 medical personnel have been sent to the quake-hit area.
