Bangladesh acting Mohammad Yunus and former PM Sheikh Hasina.
Dhaka: Amidst the political upheaval in Bangladesh, former Prime Minister and head of the ruling Awami League Sheikh Hasina has made very serious allegations against Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the head of the interim government and the Nobel Prize winner. Sheikh Hasina claimed that Younus has occupied power with the help of internationally banned terrorist organizations and now the rule of the same terrorists has been established over the entire country.
According to the news of India Today, Sheikh Hasina alleged through a Facebook post that the people taken to grab power, are the same extremists and terrorists from whom the people of Bangladesh had been provided protection till now. “Yunus joined hands with the terrorists of banned organizations to grab power. We have protected the countrymen for years, they are now being given a place in power.”
“Bangladesh jails vacant, terrorists released”
Sheikh Hasina further wrote in her post, “When we took a terrorist attack, strict action was taken. Dozens of fundamentalists were arrested. But now they are all released from jail. Bangladesh jails have almost been vacant. Younus is liberated, and now Bangladesh is under their control.” He described it as a serious threat to the country’s sovereignty, security and democracy.
The issue may arise on the international stage
After Sheikh Hasina’s statement, it is feared that she may soon raise the issue at the international level as well. Yunus is already considered to be close to western countries, especially America, and Hasina has been describing them for a long time. However, no formal response has been received from Mohammad Yunus or Interim Government so far.
