Zakir Naik In Pakistan: Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, wanted in India on charges of hate speech and inciting communal disharmony. (Zakir Naik) Was given a red carpet welcome in Pakistan.
Naik will be in Pakistan till October 28 and will give public speeches in various cities along with his son Fariq Zakir.
Naik was welcomed at Islamabad Airport by Pakistan Minister Rana Mashhood, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Syed Atta-ur-Rehman, and Parliamentary Secretary for Religious Affairs Shamsher Ali Mazari and other senior officials. Naik also met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
Malaysia has not taken any action yet
Naik has been called on the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Zakir will meet Prime Minister Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and other high officials.
Naik will also address public meetings in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. Apart from this, he will also lead Friday prayers and address the people.
Naik is currently living in Malaysia, where he fled India in 2016 after Indian agencies filed a case against him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). India has requested Naik’s extradition, but Malaysia has taken no action so far.
