Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole on Thursday confirmed that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has reached an agreement on seat sharing for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. He clarified that a consensus has been reached among the three parties.
According to Patole, each alliance partner, i.e. Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) will contest on 85 seats each. However, the official announcement will be made this evening or tomorrow.
Asked whether he would take up the responsibility of being the CM face of Maha Vikas Aghadi if proposed, Nana Patole said, “First of all, our responsibility is to bring our government to power. Then our high command will decide. We will protect Maharashtra. Want.”
Additionally, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also confirmed that the MVA partners will contest on 85 seats each. He further said that the unity of the MVA should be revealed to its people and the elections should be held without any hindrance.
Sanjay Raut said, “Yesterday there was a list on X, it will have to be corrected because there are a lot of reforms in it. It will be done today. We have reached a consensus on 85 seats for the three parties and the rest of the assembly by this evening.” The work will be completed in the areas and we will also discuss about it.
Raut expressed confidence of winning more than 100 seats in the elections.
Shiv Sena (UBT) has also released its first list of 65 candidates for the elections. The names of Aditya Thackeray and Sunil Raut are included in this list. Aditya Thackeray will contest from Worli Assembly seat.
The nomination process for 288 assembly seats has started. Voting on these seats will be held on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23. In the 2019 assembly elections in Maharashtra, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena won 56 and Congress won 44 seats.
