The government is preparing to spread the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme (PMFBY) to more farmers. It is reported that now it can also be included in this, farmers who cultivate land, animal husbandry and who have farmer credit card (KCC). This will benefit crores of farmers and the scope of insurance scheme will also increase.

40% farmers are landless
Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, said that from next season, escrow accounts will be opened with the state governments, making the compensation to the farmers on time. Out of a total of 14 crore farmers in the country, only 4.1 crore are still associated with this scheme, while 40% area has been covered.

The government wants the compensation dates to be fixed like PM farmer. Due to the delay of the states, farmers do not get money on time. In the last 9 years, states owe ₹ 4,440 crore.

Insurance premium distribution:
Farmers: 12% State Government: 48% Central Government: 40%
Farmers who cultivate rented land will be included in the scheme with the approval of the landowner, for this digital ID data will be used.
In which states the plan is operational?
Rajasthan, MP and Maharashtra are at the forefront of this scheme. At the same time, UP, Odisha and Karnataka are behind.

Insurance on losses from wildlife!
Now the government is also preparing to cover the damage caused by wild animals to the scheme. Under the scheme, ₹ 1.78 lakh crore has been received as compensation so far, while farmers have given only ₹ 35,466 crore premium in total.
The purpose of the scheme is to protect the crop from sowing to harvesting. Farmers just have to pay 1.5% in Rabi, 2% in kharif and 5% premium on cash crops, the rest of the governments.
