Medium to heavy soil is considered good for this crop. The weather which is good for betel nut and coconut crops is also considered good for black pepper.
What varieties are better?
This crop should be grown in the shade. Black pepper vine can also be offered to the mango tree. Black pepper vine can also grow on coconut and betel nut tree. If you are just applying black pepper, then there is no need to support the bells. Allow the bells to grow only four to five meters and if they increase more then they should be cut. Varieties like Srikara, Panchami, Pyur-1 and Pyur-4, Purnima are considered better for pepper cultivation.
