Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have been working on SUVs for a long time. It is believed that this most awaited SUV can be revealed by June-July. It is also believed that the company can launch it closer to the festive season. So that people get a new option in SUV. Maruti, which leads the SUV segment, also wants to target the market of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Right now the Japanese company is making its place in the SUV segment. Its production and trials have also started at Toyota’s Bangalore plant. New photos of this SUV have surfaced, which have been clicked outside Maruti’s Gurgaon plant.
Maruti codenamed YFG and Toyota’s D22
Maruti has codenamed this SUV as YFG, while the codename of Toyota’s version is D22. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota will sell both these SUVs with their different branding. However, the SUV will be built on the same platform. The engine will also get the same. However, a lot of changes will be seen in their design. Looking at the photos, it seems that they will be like Creta and Seltos, Taigun and Kushak.

Manual and automatic transmission will be available
The SUV can be offered in two petrol-hybrid engine options. There will be a mild hybrid, while the other will be a full hybrid. It will come with more power and better fuel efficiency. The engine will be mated to both manual and automatic transmission. With the localization of parts, the cost of the SUV will also come down. In this regard, the production of a lithium-ion battery has already started, which will power the hybrid system of the SUV.

Being the same will be different
Talking about the look, Maruti Suzuki SUV will have a bigger grille than Toyota. The bumper design will also be different. The bumper of Toyota SUV will get more air space. Both the SUVs will get high mounted LED DRLs, which will house the headlights. The design and finish of the alloy wheels of the SUVs will also be different, so that the difference between the two is visible.
Expected to get a panoramic sunroof
Maruti and Toyota are putting all their efforts to succeed in the compact SUV segment. All types of equipment and features will be available in their new cars. The recently launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza are indicative of this. Some of the equipment on the SUV will include a heads-up display, connected technology, large touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, cooled seats and more. Maruti has a strong foothold in the sub-compact SUV segment with the Vitara Brezza and Toyota’s Urban Cruiser. Updated models of both of these will come in the coming weeks.
