People living in Delhi will be able to charge their electric vehicles (EVs) for free from 12 noon to 3 pm at more than 40 public charging stations in the national capital from June 1. Officials said the move is aimed at promoting the use of electric vehicles.

The noontime EV free charging initiative has been launched by EV charging startup Electriva, which has partnered with the three municipal corporations to set up over 40 public charging stations in Delhi.

Apart from this, the per unit rate of train charge at these charging stations in the morning and evening hours has been kept at Rs 10. Electriva founder Sumit Dhanuka said his company will set up a charging station every three kilometers in Delhi.
The price of electric vehicles will come down
Apart from this, recently, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had told that with the rapid use of technology and green fuel, the cost of electric vehicles will be at par with petrol vehicles in the next two years.

Gadkari had told that I can say within maximum 2 years, the cost of electric scooter, car, autorickshaw will be same as that of petrol powered scooter, car, autorickshaw. If petrol, you are spending Rs 100, then on electric vehicle you will spend Rs 10 (to use).
