Suzuki has launched its compact SUV 2023 Suzuki Escudo in Japan. This car is sold in the European market as Suzuki Vitara and in India as Vitara Brezza. This car has been relaunched after being discontinued for a few days. The new model gets a fully hybrid powertrain with new features and looks, which boosts the fuel economy of the car.
Engine and Transmission
The SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre DualJet, 4-cylinder engine with full hybrid technology that produces 99 PS of maximum power and 132 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an electric motor, which is capable of generating 33hp and 60Nm.

It is mated to a 6-speed ASG automatic gearbox with gear shifters, which transmit power to all the wheels. The car also gets various performance modes including Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock modes for a better off-road experience. The car is also offered with a front-wheel drive system, with AWD being optional in some European markets.

Price and Mileage
It gets a new bigger 6Ah battery which is bigger than the mild-hybrid variant. It is placed under the car’s cargo space, while the battery was placed under the front seats in the previous model. The car can be run entirely on battery in case of low speed or while reversing. The company claims that its fuel economy is 5.1 liter / 100KM, i.e. around 19.60 kmpl. In Japan, the new model has been brought at a price of around Rs 17.71 lakh.
