Once again big information has come out regarding CNG and LPG in vehicles. This new update has come out on the recently released news of the notification about the vehicles of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. In fact, the Indian Auto LPG Coalition (IAC) has raised questions on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’s notification to convert vehicles with Bharat Stage-6 (BS-6) emission standard to Auto LPG and CNG.

Objection raised by writing a letter to the ministry
The IAC said in its statement that as per the notification issued by the ministry, it is necessary to undergo accident test and service conformity to convert BS-VI vehicles to LPG and CNG. He has termed this notification as completely unpractical. The IAC has conveyed its objections by writing a letter to the ministry in this regard.

The IAC said it has raised objections on several issues in its letter. According to the letter, the limited period of validity for the approval of vehicle type has been retained in the notification. Apart from this, crash testing has also been made mandatory.

Going ahead with such proposals would affect the position of providing equal opportunities to the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) vis-a-vis retrofitment firms manufacturing vehicle parts from outside, the statement said. He says that these steps will also be in agreement with the government’s long term environment goal. The IAC said that it is estimated that renewal of retrofitment firms every three years would cost Rs 10 crore.
