Veteran aircraft maker Airbus believes that as the aviation landscape in India improves, it is going to need 2,210 new aircraft in the next two decades. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Airbus Airbus Head of Airline Marketing (India and South Asia) Brent McBratney said India will need a large number of new aircraft over the next two decades. Of these, 1,770 aircraft should be of small size while 440 aircraft should be of medium and large size.
McBratney said it would also need 34,000 additional pilots and 45,000 technical staff by 2040, given the potential for the Indian aviation landscape to expand. He said that air transport in India is expected to grow at the rate of 6.2 per cent in the next two decades.
