Biscuit maker Britannia Industries Limited (BIL) will increase the participation of women in its employees. Britannia aims to increase the participation of women in its factory workers to 50 percent by 2024.
Britannia CMO Amit Doshi said that currently 38 per cent of the company’s factory workers are women. “Our target is to achieve a diversity ratio of 50 per cent by 2024. Right now the current national average in our factories in this regard is 38 per cent.
Amit Doshi said that at Britannia’s Guwahati factory, the proportion of women in the workforce is 60 per cent and it will be increased to 65 per cent. “We are proud to have a female workforce in engineering as well as generally male dominated areas such as packing, housekeeping, lab testing, canteens and security,” he said.
Amit Doshi said that to empower women the company has already started start-up challenge among women entrepreneurs. So far, the company has provided starting capital of Rs 10 lakh each to 30 women entrepreneurs for start-ups in areas like e-commerce, digital services, ophthalmology care through mobile vans and child education, he said.

Doshi said the company has also tied up with Google to provide skill training to women across the country.
