With the aim of promoting fisheries, the central government has been launching various schemes from time to time. One of these schemes is ‘Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana’. Under this scheme, subsidy is given to the farmers who want to start fish farming business. Under the fish farming scheme, 60 percent grant is provided to scheduled caste farmers and women to start fish farming business. Other farmers are given a subsidy of up to 40 per cent.
Free training is also given to the farmers by the government so that the farmers can get maximum profit from the fish farming business. Even if there is a cost of Rs 1 lakh in the care and seed of the fish, the beneficiary gets 5 to 6 times more profit. Initially, the fisherman can make a profit of Rs 5 to 6 lakh. But once you gain experience in the field of fish farming, you can also rear those fish, which are in high demand in the market. By taking this business further, farmers can easily get the benefit of 15 to 20 lakhs.
