Big news is coming out from India’s cab service business. The Government of India is preparing to launch Ola-Uber’s co-operative options in the cab service market. Home Minister Amit Shah has announced this. Speaking in Parliament, Shah appreciated the prosperity vision from the cooperation of PM Modi and said that it is not only a slogan, but a vision. Shah said that the government is planning to launch a co-operative model based new taxi service. The purpose of this government cab service is to provide more benefits to the drivers and provide cheap service to the customers.

Drivers will increase income

Currently, existing cab aggregators charge thick commissions from drivers. This reduces the income of drivers. This proposed co-operative-based taxi service of the government is to benefit the drivers. This service will give direct profits to the drivers and they will not have to pay a big commission to the cab company. Also, customers will also get cheap cab service. Taxi services like Ola, Uber and Rapido are going to get a tough competition from this government taxi service. Currently, cab aggregators charge 20 to 30 percent commissions from drivers. This commission will be very low in government co-operative based models. In addition, in government models, drivers will also get facilities like health insurance, accidental insurance and pension.

How will it be operational?

This proposed cab service will be run in co-operative models. The driver can own the car himself. There is a plan to run this service through a digital platform. Just as customers book cabs of Ola and Uber, similarly this cab will also be able to book. This will provide transparent pricing to customers.
