The Narendra Modi government at the Center has launched several schemes, which women get direct benefits. One such scheme is Prime Minister Matri Vandana. What is plan
The scheme is operated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The main objective of this scheme is to improve the health and nutrition of mother and child. This scheme, implemented from the year 2017, provides financial help to beneficial women. Under the scheme, the amount is transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer (DBT).
How much help
The central government gives a pregnant woman Rs 5,000 for the first child. This amount is given in three installments. 6,000 rupees are given for another girl. Since the scheme started, more than 4.05 crore beneficiaries have received maternity benefits (at least one installment), which is a total amount of Rs 19,028 crore. It has been distributed directly to the bank or post office accounts of the beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

People working at the ground level can download the mobile app of the scheme. This app is mainly for the grassroots workers for the facility of enrollment of beneficiaries and is available through the official portal.
Alternatively, eligible women can also enroll directly through the Umang platform on https://web.umang.gov.in/. This platform also makes other government schemes as well as the Prime Minister Matru Vandana Yojana service accessible. The documents required for the application include maternal and child safety (MCP) card and eligibility proof (eg, BPL card).
