New Delhi. Even before the announcement of the dates of Lok Sabha elections, the government has played a big gamble to please the public. On one hand the election dates are to be announced, while on the other hand the government has reduced the prices of petrol and diesel. The government has reduced the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre. The new rates have come into effect from today i.e. March 15.
How much did petrol and diesel cost?
After the price cut, petrol will be available in Delhi at Rs 94.72 per liter from today, earlier petrol was Rs 96.72 per litre. Whereas the price of diesel was earlier Rs 89.62 per liter, which has now reduced to Rs 87.62. After the reduction in the price of petrol in Mumbai, it will now be available at Rs 104.21 per liter, while in Kolkata it will be available at Rs 103.94 per liter and in Chennai it will be available at Rs 100.75 per liter.
What was the price of diesel?
The government has also reduced the price of diesel by Rs 2. After which the price of diesel in Delhi has become Rs 87.62. Whereas diesel in Mumbai has become Rs 92.15. Talking about Chennai, diesel has become Rs 92.34 per liter in Chennai and Rs 90.76 per liter in Kolkata.
Rajasthan government has already taken steps
The Central Government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel today but the Rajasthan Government has already announced the reduction on March 14. Rajasthan government has reduced VAT by 4 percent, which has affected the prices of petrol and diesel. After the reduction in VAT, petrol has become cheaper by Rs 1.40 to Rs 5.30 per liter, while diesel has come down by Rs 1.34 to Rs 4.85.
