New Delhi. For the last two years, due to Corona, no festival has been celebrated with as much fanfare. But after the lifting of the lockdown, the normal life of the people has started returning to normal and festivals are also being celebrated with great enthusiasm. In view of this, many states are also coming up with new schemes to provide convenience to the people. Rakhi festival is falling this month. The Uttar Pradesh government makes buses free for women every year on this occasion, so that sisters can go to their brothers’ homes. But there are many sisters who for some reason cannot meet their brother because they live in other cities in connection with work etc. In such a situation, these sisters send their Rakhi to their brothers through post. To make it more simple, the Punjab government has come up with a special scheme of Rakhi, so that there is no hindrance in this sacred bond of brother and sister. In fact, Chandigarh Postal Division has started special booking services for Rakhi, under which sisters will be able to send Rakhi through postal department not only to brothers living in the country but also to brothers living in other 35 countries.
This scheme named ‘Rakhi Mail Booking Service’ facility has been started by the Postal Division at 43 post offices in Chandigarh, 25 in Mohali and 27 in Ropar. These rakhis will be sent across India through Ordinary Post, Registered Post as well as Speed Post. The post office has set July 25 as the cut off date for sending Rakhi. At the same time, the cut off date for Punjab and Chandigarh has been kept on July 25. Apart from this, separate box and bag facility will also be provided in big post offices for the post of Rakhi. The postal department has instructed people to put Rakhi in a special envelope and put it in the specified box and bag only. For this, a special Rakhi envelope will also be made available by the postal department.
Special arrangements have been made for the National Shirting Hub to deliver it before Rakshabandhan. According to Manoj Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Department of Posts, Chandigarh Division, a special drive will be run to ensure timely delivery of Rakhi to the people and all efforts will be made by the delivery staff to ensure timely delivery of Rakhi.
