Sales increased in March
According to preliminary data received from the industry, petrol sales of public sector petroleum companies, which control nearly 90 per cent of the market, stood at 1.23 million tonnes between March 1 and 15, up 18 per cent over the same period last year and compared to 2019. higher by 24.4 percent.
On the other hand, the sales of diesel on a year-on-year basis grew by 23.7 percent to 35.3 million tonnes and was 17.3 percent higher than 2019.

According to the data, this year petrol sold 24.3 percent more and diesel 33.5 percent more than the sales during 1-15 March 2020. At the same time, compared to the previous month, the sale of petrol was 18.8 percent higher and that of diesel was 32.8 percent higher.
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Monday that there have been some comments that people should get their vehicles filled completely before the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel. After this, the sale of fuel has increased by 20 percent.

What is the rate now?
Petrol and diesel prices have not increased since November 2021 in view of the assembly elections in five states including Uttar Pradesh. During this period, the price of crude oil has reached from $ 81 to $ 130 per barrel. Despite this, vehicle fuel prices have not increased since 132 days. In the country’s capital Delhi, the price of one liter of petrol remains Rs 95.41 (Delhi Petrol Price), while the price of diesel is Rs 86.67 (Delhi Diesel Price). At the same time, petrol is being sold in Mumbai at the rate of Rs 109.98 per liter, while diesel is being sold at Rs 94.14.
