What is scrap policy? The Central Government had announced the scrap policy for old vehicles in the budget for the financial year 2021-22. In which vehicles will have to undergo a fitness test based on the body and engine, in which many features like emission status and fuel efficiency, safety status will be checked. If your old vehicle fails in the test then the registration of the vehicle will be canceled and such vehicles will be sent for scrap.
How to get benefit if the vehicle is scrap – The Central Government had announced many facilities to benefit the people in the Vehicle Scrap Policy. If your vehicle goes into scrap, you will get a scrap certificate instead, which will be valid for 2 years. Through this certificate, if you buy a new vehicle of any company, then you will get a discount on the new vehicle equal to the scrap value of the old vehicle, which will be maximum 5 percent of the value of the new vehicle.
Apart from this, no registration fee will have to be paid on the new vehicle. The state government can also give a road tax rebate of up to 25 per cent for private vehicles and up to 15 per cent for commercial vehicles.
How to register for fitness test – Knowledgeable people can apply for the fitness test in Vehicle Scrap Policy at www.ppe.nsws.gov.in/portal/scheme/scrappagepolicy. In which some important documents will have to be uploaded along with the character certificate on the stamp of Rs 100. After which there will be a fitness test of your vehicle.
