The Central Government has exempted Meghalaya from the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022-23 for undergraduate courses in colleges affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), one of the country’s premier central universities.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written in a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma that the colleges affiliated to NEHU will continue with the existing system for admission instead of CEUT. He said that the decision has been taken keeping in view the state’s geographical location, hilly terrain, limited digital connectivity and infrastructure conditions.
Pradhan said that CUET has been introduced for admission at UG level in all central universities. The Chief Minister had recently met the Union Education Minister and requested for exemption from CEUT for graduate courses in colleges affiliated to NEHU.
