Even after 2 rounds, 400 seats of MBBS Management Quota are vacant, fees are 26 to 45 lakhs, Career News

The process of NEET UG counseling is going on for admission to MBBS course in medical colleges of Karnataka. After two rounds of counselling, more than 400 MBBS seats of management quota remain vacant in private medical colleges. There are less than two weeks left for the admissions for the current academic year to be completed. It is believed that due to the huge fees ranging from Rs 26 lakh to Rs 45 lakh, students are turning away from management quota seats.

According to Deccan Herald report, the lowest MBBS fee is Rs 26,12,700 from Navodaya Medical College, Raichur and Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Mangaluru. Whereas the highest fee is Rs 45,41,500 of Saptagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Bengaluru.

Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has announced the schedule of mop-up round for admission to medical courses. After the second round of seat allotment, 596 medical seats are vacant, out of which 453 seats are under management quota and 135 are under private quota.

According to the report, only seven seats with low fees are left under government quota in private medical colleges. However, the college management hopes to fill all the seats. A management representative of a private medical college in Bengaluru said, “Last year too, about 20 seats were vacant in our college after the second round, but in the mop-up all the seats were filled. This year too we are confident of getting admission on all the seats.” Is.”

Also read: No one could do MBBS from here in 13 years, now the remaining 259 students will also be shifted.

KEA officials have said that the college management has been clearly told that they should neither increase nor decrease the fees declared under the management quota after the first round. KEA Executive Director H Prasanna said, ‘Last year, when some colleges had offered seats at lower fees in the second round to fill the vacant seats, students who had got seats by paying full fees in the first round, reached KEA for the discount. Keeping this in mind, we informed the colleges that they cannot make changes in the fee structure given on the KEA website.
