400 students of Bivok and Commerce of Rajiv Gandhi South campus of Banaras Hindu University in Barkachha were ordered to vacate the hostel immediately. The students of both the courses are residents of Shivalik and Vindhyachal hostel. There was a fight between these students around 12 o’clock on Friday night over some issue. As soon as the matter came to light, Professor Vinod Mishra, in-charge of South Campus reached the hostel and tried to convince the students, but the students gave the police of Barkachha post of Kotwali countryside for assaulting each other.
Shivalik, a student of Vivok on the South Campus, and Vindhyachal, a student of Commerce, live in the hostel. Both the hostels are situated at a distance of two hundred meters in the vicinity. There was a dispute in the evening between the students of Bivok and Commerce on Friday evening over some issue. The dispute became so serious that around 12 o’clock in the night, the students of both the hostels clashed with each other. The students beat each other up. By then the security personnel also reached the hostel. On the information of the security personnel, Professor Dr. Vinod Mishra, Incharge of South Campus reached the spot and pacified the matter after persuading the students who were beating them, but on Saturday morning both the sides reached Barkachha police post of Kotwali in the countryside and confronted each other. A complaint of assault was given against him. On coming to know about this, Professor Dr. Vinod Mishra, Incharge, instructed 400 students of both the hostels to vacate the hostel immediately. He told that among them there are two hundred commerce and same number of students of Vivok. All the students have been suspended from the hostel till the first week of April.
