Bihar Education Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said on Tuesday that the scorching heat in Bihar and the rise in temperature are being assessed. Appropriate decision will be taken at the right time in consultation with the Disaster Management Department and other concerned departments. On the question of journalists whether the summer vacation in the schools of the state would be done earlier in view of the prevailing heat and temperature, the Education Minister said that the government has not taken any immediate decision regarding summer vacation. But in view of the scorching heat, the education department and the government are also keeping an eye on it.
Vijay Kumar Choudhary said that the closure of the school hinders the education of the children, that is why we do not want to close the school but do not want to get the education done by putting the health of the children at risk. Said that the assessment of increase in heat and temperature is being done.
It is worth noting that this year’s record breaking heat has emerged as a new disaster. In Bihar, the Disaster Management Department has issued an alert. Apart from health and education, the Disaster Management Department has also advised the departments of Animal Husbandry, PHED, Rural Development etc. to remain alert.
In view of the heat, the Maharashtra government has also announced summer vacation from May 2 to June 12 for students of classes I to IX and XI. The next academic session will start from June 13.
