New Delhi. The Union Health Ministry has asked the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to postpone NEET PG 2022 by six to eight weeks as the counseling for NEET PG 2021 is also scheduled during this time. Six MBBS graduates had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on January 25, seeking postponement of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) to be held on March 12 for admission to postgraduate medical courses. He had said that many MBBS graduates would not be able to take the exam due to non-completion of the mandatory ‘internship’ period.
Dr. B. Srinivas, Assistant Director General (Medical Education) and Member Secretary of the Medical Advisory Committee, in a letter sent to Dr. M. Bajpai, Executive Director, NBE, said that many doctors have requested to postpone the NEET-PG 2022 examination, Because the counseling of NEET PG 2021 is also to be held during this time. At the same time, many ‘interns’ will not be able to participate in PG counseling 2022 in May-June.
This letter was sent on February 3. “Keeping in view the above facts, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to postpone NEET PG 2022 by six to eight weeks,” it said. Therefore, the decision taken by the ministry should be complied with.
