In the case of ragging in the Sushila Tiwari Government Medical College, Haldwani, Uttarakhand, the matter of cover has come to the fore. The inquiry committee has admitted to ragging but the committee failed to identify the accused. On Wednesday, the report of the High Level Inquiry Committee on behalf of the government was placed before the double bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice RC Khulbe. The report said that the matter of ragging with the first year students of the medical college has come to the fore but is not ready to present any evidence before the inquiry committee. The report also said that a case of negligence on the part of the medical administration has also come to the fore.
CCTV cameras have not been installed in the college premises to prevent ragging. The cameras installed are not working. Despite this, a case has been registered against unknown accused by the inquiry committee. Thereafter, the bench directed Nainital District Magistrate DS Garbyal to install CCTV cameras in the college premises. Along with this, the court has asked the college administration to file a reply in this matter by Wednesday. It is clear from the stand of the court that the accused of ragging are not going to get away easily.
It is noteworthy that in the beginning of March, a case of ragging in Talibani style came to light at Sushila Tiwari Medical College. About 30 students are forced to walk with their heads bowed and their heads shaved. There is also a security guard behind him in the video. When this video of ragging was widely circulated on social media, there was a stir in the college. On March 9, on behalf of the petitioner Sachidanand Dabral, a public interest litigation was filed in the High Court to take action against the accused in this case. Taking this matter seriously, the court directed Kumaon Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Dr. Nilesh Anand Bharene to investigate the matter and submit a report in 10 days and take criminal action against the accused. Huh.
