Moscow. Japan’s billionaire Yusaku Meizawa and his assistant left for space after more than a decade on Wednesday after paying a fee. Fashion businessmen Yusaku Mizawa and Yojo Hirano, accompanied by Russian cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin, left for the International Space Station on board the Russian Soyuz spacecraft. The trio took off from the Russian Baikonur station in Kazakhstan in a Soyuz MS-20 at 12.38 pm as per the schedule.
Meizawa and Hirano are about to spend 12 days in space. Both of them have become the first tourists to go to space since 2009 who have paid for it. The cost of this trip has not been disclosed. Meizawa said, “I would like to see the Earth from space. I would like to feel the weightlessness.” He told reporters before leaving for the space journey, “I also have a personal hope and I am curious to know how space will change me, after this space flight I will How will I change?
Tom Shelley, president of Space Adventures, the company that organized this space trip, said that Meizawa, after knowing the views of the public, has prepared a list of 100 things to do in space. The list includes “simple things about daily life, maybe some other fun activities, and serious questions.”
Shelley told the Associated Press earlier this year, “the intention is to try to share the experience of being in space with the general public.” Meizawa opened Japan’s largest online fashion mall, Jojotown. And tried his luck in the field of fashion. Forbes magazine estimated his net worth at two billion dollars. The businessman has also booked a trip around the Moon from Elon Musk’s starship, which is likely to happen in 2023. In this journey, he will join the eight winners through the competition.
