National Civil Service Day 2022: Civil Service Day i.e. National Civil Services Day 2022 is celebrated every year in India on 21st April. Civil service is the backbone of the administration of a country. This day is celebrated to appreciate all the public officials who are engaged in many public departments and make efforts to run the administrative machinery of the country. The day is also a reminder for the civil servants who are working in various departments with the aim of serving the citizens of India.
The officers who are appointed as IAS- IPS and others work at the grassroots level to address the many social issues faced by the citizens of the country.
National Civil Services Day commemorates the day when the first Home Minister of independent India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, addressed the probationers of Administrative Service Officers at Metcalf House, Delhi in 1947. The first National Civil Services Day was celebrated on April 21, 1947. On this day, the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration are presented.

Let us tell you, on National Civil Services Day, the Center discusses and evaluates the work of various departments. These awards also shed light on how much civil services have contributed to the development of the country since independence.
Last year, the Center had received 2,253 nominations for the awards. Out of the total number, 183 were under Khelo India scheme, 847 were under Innovation scheme.
