The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) located in Sector-62 has made preparations to open its 24th educational institution in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The institute is expected to be operational in Ladakh by 27th May. In this regard, a meeting was held between NIOS President Professor Saroj Sharma and Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur in New Delhi on Tuesday. Pro. Saroj Sharma has demanded a government space from the Lieutenant Governor to educate the children so that he can run the center. The director of the institute, Professor Saroj Sharma, said that this would be the first regional institute of the Central Board of Education in Ladakh. School education will be given to the children in this regional center operating at 11,000 feet. The institute has completed all the preparations regarding this. Soon the team will reach Ladakh. The place has also been marked after talking to the Lieutenant Governor. The center is expected to be operational by May 27 this month. The aim of the institute is to improve the education system in Ladakh. By giving better education to the children studying in Buddhist monasteries and other methods, their future can be improved. This will be the 24th Regional Center of NIOS to be started in Ladakh. For the first time, a central institution has come forward to start an educational institution in Ladakh. Regarding this, the Lieutenant Governor directed the director of the institute, Prof. Saroj Sharma’s efforts have also been appreciated.
Children will be taught the lesson of skill development
The National Institute of Open Schooling is the education council of open schools. Like others, including the Central Council of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education, NIOS also conducts examinations at the secondary and higher secondary level. Apart from school level education, vocational courses are also conducted in the institute. Under this, students can choose any subject according to their need. It is also mandatory to choose a language related subject. Also, there is no upper age limit for those who take admission. Through vocational courses, students get an opportunity to start their own start up, as well as employment opportunities are opened for them in various sectors.
