Success Story of Sher Ali: The UP Board on Saturday declared the results of class 10 and class 12, out of which many students topped, while some brought laurels to the family with their dedication and hard work even in the midst of poverty. We are talking about Sher Ali of Agra who has passed the UP Board High School examination in First Division.
Let us tell you that 17-year-old Sher Ali, who used to beg on the streets till a few years ago, has passed the class X examination with 63% marks. Sher Ali, who lives in a slum near the Department of Secondary Education, Agra, has become a role model for the 40 families living there.
Ali, who scored 80 out of 100 in English, lives in an 8X8 ft hut with his parents and eight other siblings. There is no electricity in that hut. Most of the families here work as waste pickers and their children are forced to beg. Ali’s parents are illiterate. Not only this, almost none of his neighbors have studied till the tenth standard.
Sher Ali credits a local child rights activist, Naresh Paras, for getting him out of begging and getting him admitted to the school. Paras managed to get 36 students enrolled in the school in 2014 with the help of the then Additional Director. Sher Ali was also one of them. Now Ali aims to serve the country by joining the army through Agneepath scheme.
Regarding Ali’s journey, Paras said that apart from doing better in studies, he has also won many awards. She has won several medals in state and district level sporting events including athletics and weightlifting. Ali has also been performing dance at major events like the Taj Mahotsav in Agra and is now working hard to join the Indian Army as an Agniveer.
