The UPSC filed an affidavit in the top court stating that any decision regarding age relaxation and compensatory/extra effort in civil services examination is a “policy matter” which falls under the purview of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
He said, “The commission usually conducts a number of recruitment examinations apart from 13 examinations during a year. In respect of these examinations, if a candidate fails to appear in the examination on the prescribed date for any reason including any disease/accident, rendering him/her unable to take the examination, there shall be no provision for holding the examination again.
