UP Scholarship: In the current academic session, the number of students of classes above and above class ten and vocational courses, deprived of the government facility of scholarship and fee reimbursement, has increased further. These include about 14 lakh students of OBC, 4 lakh of general category and 2 lakh students of minority category. In this way, this number is about 20 lakh students. All these disadvantaged students are mostly from private educational institutions for undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses whose fees are in lakhs. Due to non-availability of scholarship and fee reimbursement, the possibility of their academic career getting affected has increased.
According to the report sent by the Backward Classes Welfare Department to the government after recounting, an amount of Rs 10 thousand 399 crore was given to 13,77, 213 poor students of OBC in these classes and courses for scholarship and fee reimbursement. Even after applying for the same number of students and due to lack of budget, they have been deprived of getting this facility. Earlier, the number of OBC students deprived of scholarship and fee reimbursement was said to be around 10 lakh.

Apart from this, an amount of Rs 575 crore was given to 5 lakh 38 thousand students of general category from the Social Welfare Department in the form of scholarship and fee reimbursement. Due to lack of budget, 3.92 lakh students were deprived. According to the information received from the Directorate of Social Welfare, this time a total of 9.35 lakh students studying in the post-matric classes of general category had applied.
There is a lot of pressure on the department to get the scholarship and fee reimbursement to 3.92 lakh students who were left out. Recently, these angry students went to the Directorate and protested. According to the officials of the Directorate, an amount of Rs 432 crore has been sought for these underprivileged students, although there is little chance of getting it from the state head.
According to the information received from the Minority Welfare Department, despite giving scholarship and fee compensation to 13 lakh minority students, two lakh students remained deprived, for which about two thousand crore rupees are needed, which is not expected to be met.
