The Haridwar district administration of Uttarakhand has issued an order prohibiting teachers from carrying mobile phones inside classrooms. District Magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey has ordered teachers to take “strict disciplinary action” if their mobile phones are found inside the classrooms. This rule will be applicable to all government and private educational institutions in the district.
As per the order, teachers will have to deposit their phones in the principal’s room before entering the classes. Vinay Shankar Pandey told ANI, We have been seeing for a long time that teachers were busy with their mobile phones even in classes.
Complaints are being received from parents as well as students about playing games, chatting, etc. in the phone while taking classes. We sent our magistrates to investigate the complaints. We have issued an order that teachers can take their mobile phones to schools but they have to be deposited in the principal room. They will enter the class without their mobile phones,” the DM added, however, adding that in case of a medical emergency in the teacher’s family, relaxation may be given and he can keep his phone.
