According to trade estimates, Avatar: The Way of Water seems to continue on the same route as it earned a record-breaking Rs 38 crore when it first debuted in Indian theatres. As a result, the film became India’s second biggest Hollywood opening ever.

The Indian box office has opened with a bang for Avatar: The Way of Water. On its opening day on 16 December, the James Cameron directorial reportedly collected between Rs 38.50 and Rs 40.50 crore at the box office. As a result Avatar 2 now has the second biggest opening at the box office in the Indian market. The first 2019 film was Avengers: Endgame, which earned Rs 53.10 crore on its first day of release.
South Indian markets, such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, were largely responsible for the success of Avatar 2. He earned Rs 22 crore in total. There is also strong occupancy in Indian markets in the North, East and West. Avatar 2 easily beat the likes of Spiderman: No Way Home, Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness and Avengers: Infinity War on its opening day.
