According to sources in the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the film’s release has been banned in view of the anger in the minds of Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack. Pakistani actor Fawad Khan has played the lead character in this film. Vani Kapoor is the heroine of the film. Actor Fawad Khan was to make a comeback in Bollywood after about 8 years through this film. Director Aarti S. Bagdi’s romantic comedy film Abir Gulal was to be released in theaters on 9 May.

According to media reports, sources in the ministry also say that most of the cinemas were not trying to release Abir Gulal. The cinema owners say that the release of this film of Fawad Khan can erupt the anger of the people in India. Even before this, there has been protest against the release of the film. On the 1st this month, the opposition of Abir Gulal’s teaser was started from the very next day. Raj Thackeray’s party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had opposed the film and spoke of not allowing it to be released.

MNS spokesperson Ameya Khopkar says that we will not allow any Pakistani actor film to be released in Maharashtra. In any case, this film will not be released in Maharashtra is our clear statement. At the same time, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam had also clearly stated that Pakistani actors should work in films made in their country instead of India. Bollywood filmmaker Ashok Pandit also said after the teaser release that Abir Gulal has not been supported by any Indian studio. We will appeal to the Central Board of Film Certification to look into the matter.
