New Delhi News: Smartphone users in India may have to spend more for mobile recharge soon.

Prominent telecom companies Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (VI) can increase the prices of their prepaid and postpaid recharge plans by 10-20% by 10-20% by November 2025. This news is a matter of concern for millions of users who already use mobile services in the budget.

Last year also increased tariff

According to a recent report by brokerage firm Bernstein, the tariff growth is part of the long -term strategy of telecom companies, which may continue until 2027.

Companies are planning to increase their average per user income (ARPU) and fulfill the investment required for 5G network expansion with this increase.

Significantly, in July 2024, Jio, Airtel and VI also increased the prices of their plans by 10-27%. At that time the companies argued that despite starting 5G services, the tariff was not extended for a long time, due to which this increase was necessary.

Reasons for rising prices

According to reports, there are many reasons behind tariff growth. Companies have to invest heavy in the expansion of 5G network, spectrum purchases, and strengthening network infrastructure.

In addition, the cost of operating cost and technological upgradation is also increasing. To meet these costs, companies are now preparing to put additional burden on customers.

Currently an average 28-day recharge plan is about 200 rupees. If prices increase by 10-20%, then this amount can reach Rs 240-260. This can make it difficult for poor and middle class users to use mobile services.
