Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi alleged that not allowing women journalists to attend the press conference of Afghanistan Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Muttaki has “exposed the hollowness” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogans on women power.

Gandhi also claimed that the Prime Minister had proved that he was “so weak that he cannot stand up for women”.

The Foreign Minister of Afghanistan is on a tour of India these days. He held opposition talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday. Later, he also addressed a separate press conference, in which women journalists were reportedly not allowed to attend.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi wrote on ‘X’, ‘Modi ji, when you allow women journalists to be thrown out of a public platform, you are telling every woman in India that you are so weak that you cannot stand up for them.’ He said, ‘In our country, women have the right to equal participation in every field. Your silence in the face of such discrimination exposes the hollowness of your slogans on women power.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also posted on And are its pride.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the ‘(clap) ban’ imposed a ban on women journalists and it was shocking and unacceptable that the Indian government agreed to it. He said all this was done in Delhi on the eve of International Girl Child Day.
