Now you don’t even have to touch your device’s screen to browse the web. Perplexity has upgraded its AI browser, Comet, with a voice mode. Users will now have complete hands-free control, meaning they will be able to operate the browser just by speaking. Announcing this, the company’s CEO, Arvind Srinivas said that this is the first time that users will be able to completely control the browser without touching the screen.
What will happen in voice mode?
Srinivas said the upgraded voice mode will let users browse, search and interact with web content just by speaking. This means you won’t need to use your hands to open a website, change tabs or scroll pages, and you can do it all with voice commands. The company said that this feature is based on the real-time model of OpenAI.
When will this feature be released?
Srinivas has confirmed that the voice mode upgrade will be available on Comet iOS in the next few days. However, it is not known whether it will be launched on the desktop version along with the iPhone or users will have to wait.
Ongoing trend of AI browser
With the advent of AI, the era of traditional search has ended. OpenAI launched the Atlas AI browser, while Perplexity launched Comet. Companies like Google are also focusing on AI search. The company has also made many changes in its Chrome browser so that users can take advantage of AI features. Google now shows AI summaries instead of direct links when searching, so users don’t have to visit multiple web pages to find the information they need.
