He has told how Bitta made a slight mistake in identification and shot someone else instead of his maternal uncle. He told that it was the same maternal uncle who had also given money to Bitta to go to school in his childhood.
used to play cricket with family
Rajeev is the director of Kashmiri Overseas Association. He tweeted, Farooq Ahmed Dar was a normal kid before becoming a psychopath terrorist. People used to call him Bitta. He used to play cricket with my family in Srinagar. My maternal uncle also gave him money to go to school. When Bitta returned from Pak Occupied Kashmir (POK) with terror training, he got an order to kill my uncle. Another fellow JKLF terrorist of Bitta saw my maternal uncle leaving home for work, he was passing by Habba Kadal. The plan was to shoot my maternal uncle from behind.

Bitta confused by leather jacket
Khabri saw my maternal uncle leaving the house at 9:30 on 16 February 1990. He was wearing a leather jacket. Bitta was informed and his pistol was ready. Suddenly my uncle remembered that it was his elder brother’s birthday so he went back home to take part in the puja. Khabri could not see that my maternal uncle had gone back. A short distance from my maternal uncle’s house, 26-year-old Kashmiri Hindu Anil Bhan was going for his job. He was going to get married in a few days. Bitta Karate spotted a Kashmiri Hindu in a leather jacket. He thought it was my uncle. He fired from behind. You will never forget the mother who screamed at the sight of her son in a pool of blood.

Told why were you silent till now…
The terrorists admitted that they killed the wrong person. Because of Anil’s sacrifice, my maternal uncle is still alive. But neither Anil’s mother nor my uncle should have to bear this pain. Why haven’t I told you this yet? Because after speaking about Kashmiri Hindus in US, Congress and media for 30 years, I don’t think that has been heard. Thanks to Vivek Agnihotri.
