Kochi. Roy Violet, accused in the accidental deaths of two Kerala models, got bail on Monday in the POCSO case. Violet and her close aide, interior decorator Saiju Thankachen, an accused in the accidental death, also got bail in the POCSO case.
Violet and Thankachen surrendered to the police last week in the POCSO case in connection with the sexual abuse of a Wayanad woman and her minor daughter. Since then both of them were in judicial custody and on Monday the POCSO Court granted bail to both of them.
Incidentally, there was a third accused in the POCSO case, Anjali Dev, but she managed to get anticipatory bail and hence she was not arrested.
Violet owns the No. 18 hotel here and it was here that Ansi Kabir, 25, and Anjana Shajan, 24, were returning after attending a party, who died instantly in a road accident in November last year.
A third person, Aashiq, died a few days later, except Abdul Rehman, who was driving the car, was the only witness.
Though the investigation team recovered the hard disk of the CCTV footage at the hotel, it failed to obtain any view of the party, raising suspicion of a foul play.
After several days of investigation, the police team came to know that there was an altercation during the party. Before things got ugly, the young men had left the hotel.
On its way back, the car lost control after colliding with a two-wheeler and overturned and died.
However, the police found that there was a vehicle driven by Saiju Thankachen who was chasing the car carrying two women. During interrogation, the driver told that the victim’s car was being driven at a very high speed.
After a detailed investigation into the accident, police had named eight people as accused in the car accident that resulted in the death of two models and another person and also included Violet and Thanachen.
