The GST Council has imposed 5% GST on many everyday things on 18th July. Food items like flour, rice, milk to curd have been taxed, which is going to have a direct impact on the pocket of the common man. Bollywood actress Richa Chadha has also reacted in this matter.
He wrote on Twitter that don’t put curd in your mouth on the issue of inflation, that too has been taxed. After which all the users have commented on his tweet.
Richa Chadha wrote this while sharing the journalist’s tweet. The journalist wrote in his tweet, “For the first time in 75 years, the government will collect tax on non-branded food grains. Historic!”

Apart from this, Varun Gandhi has also tweeted about the tax on food items. He wrote, “From today GST is applicable on packaged products like milk, curd, butter, rice, pulses, bread. This decision, taken amid record-breaking unemployment, will further lighten the pockets of middle-class families and especially the struggling youth living in rented houses. When it was time to give ‘relief’, we are ‘hurting’.”

Many people have pulled up on Varun Gandhi’s tweet. Vivek Singh wrote, “You have many complaints with BJP but still you are in BJP. Why exactly? Leave BJP Bhai! And go wherever the party likes you, doesn’t any other party take you?” Dr. Dipendra Singh wrote, “The country is again being taken towards slavery, you should now get out of the house and fight on the road. Millions of youth are looking at you.”
Apart from these, actor Prakash Raj has also opposed GST. He also shared the old video of PM Modi on Twitter and said that he is cheating.
Let us tell you that at present, GST has not been imposed on the prices of loose rice, flour, curd and milk etc. Only packaged curd, lassi, buttermilk, paneer, atta and rice attract 5% GST. If these goods are sold by open weighing in front of the customer, then GST will not be applicable on them.
