Kolkata Police has registered a case of unnatural death in the death of singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK. It has been told that injury marks were seen on Singer KK’s face and head, after which the police have registered a case at New Market police station.
Injuries to the face and head: Singer KK had collapsed at the Grand Hotel in New Market police station area after returning from a show in Kolkata on Tuesday, May 31. After which he was taken to a private hospital in the city, where he was declared brought dead. According to police sources, he has injury marks on his face and head.
Kolkata JCP (Crime) reaches Grand Hotel: A post-mortem will be conducted at Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital on Wednesday to ascertain the cause of death of singer KK. Simultaneously, the police will examine the CCTV footage (CCTV) at the Grand Hotel and will interrogate the hotel staff and the organizers of the event. Kolkata’s Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Murlidhar Sharma was seen arriving at The Oberoi Grand, where singer KK was staying.
Complaint to organisers: According to some of the listeners who attended the concert on Tuesday, the indoor Nazrul Manch auditorium was overcrowded and the air-condition was also not working properly. A sweaty KK was feeling the heat on the stage and even asked the organizers to dim the lights on him. It is said that he had also complained to the organizers about the crowd around the stage.
Doctor said – we could not do the treatment: Talking to PTI, officials said that Singer KK was feeling a lot of ‘heaviness’ in his body with panic after reaching his hotel and then he fell down after a while. In the same conversation with PTI, a doctor has been quoted as saying, ‘KK was brought to the hospital at around 10 pm. It is unfortunate that we could not treat them.
What did CM Mamta Banerjee say: West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee expressed deep condolences by tweeting on the death of KK. He announced that the Kolkata Police would give a gun salute to singer KK’s body on his arrival at the Kolkata airport.
