Manish is taking more interest in doing OTT shows, was famous for the role of Guru Chanakya in ‘Chandragupta Maurya’
Mumbai, (IANS)| Actor Manish Wadhwa recently made his web debut with ‘Chhatrasal’. They shot the series two years back, which is now finally streaming. The actor is happy and hopeful that this project will open the way for him to get more work on the web. Manish is known for roles like ‘Chanakya’ in ‘Chandragupta Maurya’ and ‘Raja Kansa’ in ‘Paramavatar Shri Krishna’.
The actor will be seen playing the role of a guru (teacher) of ‘Chhatrasal’ in the historical drama. Talking about his role, he says, “I am playing the role of Maharaja Chhatrasal’s guru in the series. Religion doesn’t matter to him, he gives more importance to humanity, which he considers a religion. His motto is to bring everyone together with love.” The 49-year-old actor revealed that he was playing the role of ‘Raja Kansa’ in the show “Paramavatar Shri Krishna” when the offer came to him and he felt great about it.
He says that, “While ‘Raja Kansa’ was staunchly negative, the character was completely positive. It was hard work to go from character to character. Also, I had to move my eyes to make it more realistic. But I have to work and try to look like a ‘guru’. I have to work on the language as well because the Hindi I had to speak for this character was completely different from our everyday dialect.” Manish is more interested in doing OTT shows as he believes that a lot of experimental work is happening in the world of web and it is becoming popular among the audience.
He indicated that, “The OTT boom is here to stay. The kind of work that we are seeing from across the world on OTT is adding to its relevance. Producers and artists too are experimenting and doing that kind of work. We are able to do whatever they want. At a time when we are restricted to go to theaters and looking at all these restrictions, OTT is giving us a lot of entertainment. We are able to sit at home and watch the content that we enjoy. Huh.”
