Mumbai. In the year 2010, the film ‘Raavan’ made under the direction of Mani Ratnam flopped at the box office. The film had talented actors like Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Chiyaan Vikram. The film was made and released in Tamil and Hindi. Aishwarya and Abhishek worked together for the second time in this film. Before this he worked in ‘Guru’, which proved to be a superhit. Under the direction of Mani Ratnam, ‘Raavan’ was a modern story of Ramayana. The film was a flop. Now veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has explained the reason for this and given his reaction.
Ram Gopal Varma while talking to Film Companion said that ‘Raavan’ had confused. He said that Abhishek Bachchan’s character in the film had a strange habit of constantly shaking his head. Ram Gopal said that when he was watching the film in the theatre, when he looked around, people were looking at each other because they could not understand why he (Abhishek) was doing this.
Why did Abhishek Bachchan shake his head?
Ram Gopal told that he talked to Abhishek Bachchan and Mani Ratnam about nodding to this character. In response to which Mani Ratnam said that Ravana had ten heads, but in today’s era he cannot have ten heads, so he (Abhishek Bachchan’s character) had ten thoughts running in his mind and he simply removes them and gets one thought. But it survives.”
Not 10-20… This star kid has given 38 FLOPS in his 23 years of career, yet he is the owner of Rs 280 crores.
Ram Gopal Varma said- ‘What we think, it does not come out as it is.’
Ram Gopal Varma said that when he discussed with Mani Ratnan, he felt that Mani could not come across as he wanted. Ram Gopal Varma said, “They have discussed this separately. Now, as an audience, I didn’t know this. Even a good director like Mani made mistakes. I also made those mistakes. What script do we write and what comes out? Both are different things.”
