Big films given competition
Showcasing the story of Kashmiri Pandits, the film has stunned everyone by breaking the box office records set by the Biggest Spinners of Bollywood as well as creating new ones. Despite several hurdles including its non-holiday release, limited promotions, limited screen count and fierce competition from ‘Radhe Shyam’ and ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘The Kashmir Files’ emerged as a winner at the box office.
Older people are also watching the film
Like other hits with Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Tashkent Files’, the subject of ‘The Kashmir Files’ has instilled a sense of patriotism among the audience and movie buffs. Not only this, the film has also found new audiences for cinema, including people above the age of 80, who rarely watch movies, also flocked to theaters to witness the plight of Kashmiri Pandits.
what do the reports say
Interestingly, recent reports suggest that over 40 per cent of ticket bookings on BookMyShow and Paytm are done by people who rarely watch movies. The film has been credited for bringing the single screen idea back to the mainstream as they were most affected by Covid 19. In fact, some experts are of the opinion that ‘The Kashmir Files’ did what ‘Gadar’ did in 2001 – a kind of recreation after 22 years.
