Mumbai: Aamir Khan’s nephew and actor Imran Khan became famous in every household with his first film ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’. In this film he appeared with Genelia D’Souza. The film was a superhit and Imran and Genelia became stars overnight. But, now Imran Khan has been away from the big screen for a long time. Imran was last seen with Kangana Ranaut in ‘Katti Batti’. However, the romantic drama could not do much at the box office and since then Imran Khan has been staying away from the big screen. Imran Khan, who was away from the film world for a long time, has now spoken openly about his decision.
Imran Khan, in a conversation with Film Companion, admitted that the failure of ‘Katti Batti’ played a big role in his decision to stay away from films. According to The Indian Express, Emraan told Film Companion that there is an entire ecosystem in the film industry that revolves around actors, from promotion to PR to management. In this environment everyone focuses only on money.
He said- ‘How much does an actor earn from films, advertisements, appearances and even small events like ribbon cutting ceremonies? Over time, this money issue becomes the primary measure of success. Despite being part of this environment, I realized that my love for films was not motivated by money.
When asked whether he had decided to distance himself from the film world due to the failure of Katti Batti. In response the actor said, “Yes. But, at that moment I didn’t think about it that way and I never said anything. I just thought – ‘Okay, this day, my work is done, I left.’ This whole process was like a week becoming a month and a month becoming a year. I thought ‘Okay, I won’t do that because my heart is not in it.’
Imran’s performance in the critically acclaimed Hindi black comedy, Delhi Belly was appreciated by all. In the same year, she was seen in the film ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ with Ali Zafar and Katrina Kaif. The film was a hit at the box office. It was written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
