1. Guru Dutt’s ‘Pyaasa’
Guru Dutt and Waheeda Rehman’s film ‘Pyaasa’ is counted among the best films in the world. 2. Pather Panchali
The name of Satyajit Ray’s film ‘Pather Panchali’ is also included in the second Indian film, which is counted among the best films of the world. The film is based on the Bengali novel by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, written in 1929. The story of ‘Pather Panchali’ begins in rural Bengal in the 1910s. There lived a man named Harihara Roy, who was the priest of the temple. But his dream was to become a poet and playwright. The story of the film showed the story of the poor family of Apu and his elder sister Durga. It showed the hardships his family faces in the harsh village life. ‘Pather Panchali’ had actors like Subir Banerjee, Kanu Banerjee, Karuna Banerjee and Uma Dasgupta.
3. Kamal Haasan’s film ‘Nayakan’
A film by Kamal Haasan, who has given many blockbuster films and won many awards, was also included in the list of 100 best films of the world by Time magazine. The name of this film is ‘Nayakan’. Released in 1987, it ran for 75 days in theaters and was a blockbuster. Later this film was made in Bollywood with the name ‘Dayavan’. It featured Madhuri Dixit, Vinod Khanna and Feroze Khan in the lead roles.
