As The Sun reports, Prigozhin is known to have made his money from dubious government contracts and natural resources. It is claimed that the Wagner Group loots diamonds, gold, oil and gas from the countries where it operates. Along with this, he is also paid directly by the governments. All this, along with other businesses, has increased Prigozhin’s wealth to an ‘extraordinary level’. Some estimates put his personal wealth at up to £2 billion.
Billions of contracts received from the Russian government
Putin has said that last year alone Prigozhin and the Wagner Group won contracts worth 1.6 billion pounds from the Russian government. According to the news, a raid on the headquarters of the Wagner Group in St. Petersburg found 38 million pounds of cash, gold and fake passports in US dollars and other foreign currency. Prigozhin, who is on the FBI’s Most Wanted list, is accused of involvement in multiple companies and corruption across Russia.
From yacht to private plane
Everything from oil and gas to construction is part of Prigozhin’s portfolio. It is even claimed that he runs a ‘troll farm’ to spread propaganda in the West. Prigozhin reportedly owns a £7.5million palatial mansion, a £4.5million 120ft yacht called the Saint Vitamin and a £3million Hawker 800 private plane. He is also fond of cars and owns a priceless 1975 Lincoln Continental car.
